On Saturday the 16th February the National Front & the Young National Front held three meetings in the Southwest, two meetings in Swindon and one in Chippenham.

Firstly the National Front (NF) and the Young National Front (YNF) have due to demand held a meeting in Swindon where it was attended by almost 90 people.  The meeting was split into two; one for the National Front which had approximately 35 people and the second for the Young National Front due to the large turnout of young people.  This was excellent to see especially on the same day that the YNF also had their second successful meeting in Chippenham, with 25 invited young people and guest speakers attending.

National Front meeting concentrated largely on issues surrounding the local people.  Such as need for jobs for local people, housing, anti-social behaviour towards the young and the old alike.  They also touched on the weekday speech to academics at Reading University, from the convicted IRA terrorist, Pat Magee, who attempted to murder the former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, whilst murdering others in the process.  We also discussed its next speech to be held on the 21st February at 7.30pm.  This time guest speaker will be Khaled al-Berry an alleged former member of an Islamic radical group

The YNF on the other-hand covered the same issues but also carried out a questions and answers session, answering questions from the young people.  Many issues arose, one which seemed to be on their safety and their fears of being attacked by others in the street or in playgrounds whilst at school.  Others expressed concerns for their elderly relatives that are being failed, by what they alleged was the system and others in the community.

Chippenham meeting again went extremely well, awards were given for work that had been carried out by certain individuals; for services to the community another for helping less able people in the community.  We also touched on another local issue, which is that of Lacock Post Office and its proposed closure.

We would like to thank all those attended and would like to thank all those involved in the organisation of the meetings and the guest speakers.  All meetings had an extremely good feel about them, the enthusiasm of local people and matters discussed prove our future growth and success, we also raised unexpected amount of funds at the Chippenham meeting and £120 at the Swindon meeting; for further activities and another proposed unit opening soon in the Southwest.
