British Patriots Celebrate National Front's 40th Anniversary
|
|
On Sunday 25th March 2007, a hundred British nationalists gathered in London to celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the formation of the National Front. At this all-ticket event, guests were met with tea and coffee on arrival, and then made their way into the main hall which had been adorned with flags of the British Isles and White Commonwealth. Patriotic music played in the background as guests took their seats.
Ian Edward from West London chaired the meeting and welcomed everybody and asked them to stand for a minutes silence in memory of absent friends and fallen comrades. After the minutes silence National Front Chairman, Tom Holmes addressed the meeting via a video link. Tom was unable to attend due to an unfair weekend curfew imposed on him by Norwich Crown Court in November.
National Front Deputy Chairman Bernard Franklin gave a speech regarding the mis-governence of Britain since the end of the Second-World-War. He was followed by Tess Culnane who spoke about the problems people encounter on a daily basis. Keith Axon from Birmingham then auctioned off some early National Front literature. After this the meeting adjourned for refreshments. During the interval there were literature stalls selling fortieth anniversary badges and tea shirts, as well as newspapers and DVDs. This period gave an opportunity for friends from different parts of the country to meet and discuss what they have been doing in their area.
After the interval, Norman Tomkinson the National Front Treasurer addressed the meeting and spoke of his experiences during his time in the party. He reminded us of Albert Mariner who was murdered by a gang comprised of immigrants and Communists, while on his way to an election meeting in Tottenham during 1982.
Ian Edward then held a Dutch auction which raised over £600 for party funds. Bernard Franklin then followed by giving a closing speech and finally thanked everyone for their support. Guests then made their way to the bar where many friends discussed old times and many new friendships were made. Everyone present agreed the day had been a complete success and many of those present commented on the positive and friendly atmosphere.
Congratulations are in order for everyone who has helped raise the National Front's profile in recent months. A big thank you is due, especially to the speakers and organisers of this anniversary event. West London branch put a great deal of time and effort into planning this meeting, of which our party can be truly proud.
